Thomas Dannert is our Senior Developer and Technical Product Owner. This makes him one of our key players in development. He has been part of ondeso since 2019 and works at our Regensburg location. With his in-depth knowledge as a programmer, he contributes significantly to the further development of our existing products and the creation of new ones.

If you had the opportunity to learn a skill overnight, what would it be and why?
The ability to see bugs, before they are written – alternatively, the teleportation from the to do list directly to the “done” status.
What is your favorite quote or piece of wisdom that inspires you?
Understanding comes before optimization. I have learned that quick fixes often only help in the short term. Only when you truly understand a problem – both professionally and technically – you can make decisions that are sustainable in the long term.
Do you have a talent or hobby that would surprise your coworkers?
In fact, I have a UL pilot’s license for motorized hang gliders with gondolas – so called trikes. I’m pausing this hobby for now, but as soon as my children are a bit older, it surely gets revived.
What motivates you on days when everything is going upside down?
The idea that even chaotic days ultimately lead to progress. When a problem is solved, the effort always feels worthwhile in the end.
What is your biggest dream or ambition in life?
To continuously develop myself professionally and personally without losing sight of what is important. To remain curious, to learn new things, and to take on responsibility without neglecting other areas of life.
What exactly is your role at ondeso and what does a typical working day look like for you?
At ondeso, I’m working as a software developer and as the Technical Product Owner. In this role, I am primarily involved in the design, further development, and optimization of our systems – especially with the new ondeso ONE platform. In doing so, I’m moving deliberately at the interface between functional requirements and technical implementation.
My daily work is a mixture of conceptual work and practical development. It ranges from recording and evaluating new requirements to developing viable technical concepts and implementing them in code. This includes developing new functions, further developing existing components, and making and securing technical decisions. Close communication with the team, the various departments, and our CTO Martin Stemplinger is also an integral part of my work.
How would your coworkers describe you?
Presumably as structured, solution-oriented and reliable – with high quality standards and a keen eye for detail. At the same time, hopefully also as someone who remains calm even in challenging situations and contributes to a positive atmosphere in the team with a good sense of humor.
What did you want to be when you were a child, and what brought you to ondeso?
As a child, I didn’t have a clear career aspiration. However, I came into contact with the first personal computers at an early age – among other things, during an internship at an advertising agency, where I worked with systems such as the Osborne and the IBM PC. From the very beginning, I was very curious, and so my basic career path was already mapped out – including ondeso.
What do you appreciate about working at ondeso?
What I particularly appreciate about working at ondeso is the combination of professional challenges, modern technologies, and a collegial, professional environment. For me, the open exchange of ideas, short decision-making processes, and the trust in independent work are particularly noteworthy.
What was the most exciting project at ondeso?
Ich blicke bei dieser Frage bewusst nach vorn. Besonders spannend finde ich die Weiterentwicklung unserer Produkte durch den Einsatz neuer Technologien und den gezielten, sinnvollen Einsatz von Künstlicher Intelligenz. Hier sehe ich großes Potenzial, bestehende Lösungen weiter zu verbessern, neue Möglichkeiten zu erschließen und unsere Produkte langfristig zukunftssicher aufzustellen.
