What challenges did you face before the implementation of ondeso?

In a production environment where large numbers of parts are produced in a highly automated manner as one-offs, it is inconceivable to interrupt the flow of construction parts. The big challenge therefore was to ensure that we could carry out all necessary activities to maintain the control computers without any impairment in availability and performance. This includes, for example, installing programs or patching individual services or parts of the operating system.
Another aspect is the possibility of central monitoring and analysis of the systems regarding the states of hardware and software. Without this possibility, we can only intervene reactively to problematic developments in a linked system, such as our production, and thus usually too late.

How has working in your production environment changed since then?

By using ondeso we can automate a huge number of operations. Through the use of special programs and scripts we have the possibility to install the control computers automatically, to install software time-controlled to us released maintenance times and to record and catalog the patch levels. This is an immense help especially for security patches.
In addition, we have an overview of the individual systems as well as the connected computers in order to be able to inform and act quickly in case of critical developments before an infected system brings a production line or even an entire area to a standstill

Why did you decide to use a product from ondeso?

The degree of automation in the critical area of production systems, which is possible with ondeso, impressed us from the very beginning. A large part of the routine work is now carried out automatically. Especially in our spacious production areas, this relieves us of the feared sneaker administration, which has been time-consuming, error-prone and has produced unsatisfactory results. We have also gained a partner in ondeso who develops the software together with us, listens to our questions or problems and presents good solutions. Over the years the work together has developed into a real partnership.
