Drive Snapshot Becomes Part of the ondeso Product Family

ondeso, together with Everfield, has acquired the backup software Drive Snapshot. This marks the evolution of a long-standing technological partnership into a shared journey: Drive Snapshot will continue as part of the ondeso product family and will be further developed over the long term.

For users, this step means, above all, continuity. The proven imaging technology will remain in place and will be even more closely integrated with ondeso’s structures and solutions in the future.

A long-standing partnership leads to a shared future

Drive Snapshot and ondeso have maintained a close technological partnership for well over ten years. Drive Snapshot’s imaging technology is already being used in conjunction with ondeso SR to back up industrial PCs while they are in operation.

The two solutions complement each other: Drive Snapshot allows entire hard drives and partitions to be backed up as exact images while Windows and the applications running on them continue to operate. ondeso SR complements this technology with centralized control and automation. This enables backup processes to be planned centrally, executed automatically, and monitored.

With this acquisition, this long-standing technological partnership is now also joining forces organizationally.

Proven Backup Technology for Industrial PCs

Backing up industrial PCs is a particular challenge, especially in production environments. Systems often cannot be easily shut down for a backup. At the same time, many of them use older or specially configured Windows systems and reinstalling them in the event of a failure would involve considerable effort.

Drive Snapshot creates an exact image of a hard drive or partition while Windows is running. This does not require a reboot or installation of the software. If, for example, an industrial PC fails due to a hardware defect, the previously created image can be restored on the original system or on new hardware. This eliminates the need to reinstall and reconfigure the operating system, drivers, and applications individually.
