The „WE“ is ondeso: Lena Alxneit

Perhaps you have already asked yourself who is actually behind ondeso’s public image. The answer: Head of Marketing Lena Alxneit – the heart and soul of our marketing department! She has been enriching our company with her creative ideas and extensive expertise since 2018. Whether it’s website content, trade fair appearances or just a sympathetic ear for her colleagues: you can always rely on Lena!

We can’t wait to find out what else you can tell us about yourself in the interview. Let’s get started:

Let’s start with a quick Q&A session:

What was the last TV series you watched and why:
I watched the drama series “Kitz” last weekend. A young woman from Kitzbühel wants to take revenge for the death of her brother and infiltrates the Munich “Schickeria” to do so. The series didn’t make it onto my list of favourite series and is already over after 6 episodes, but it got me in the mood for my upcoming skiing vacation. I like it when movies and series match the time of year, or when you get a few impressions of your new vacation destination.

A day without internet or a day without talking?
To be honest, both have their appeal. At work, a day without the internet would definitely be more of a challenge. In my private life I would prefer to talk and therefore do without the Internet for a day.

Team Summer or Team Winter?
I generally like the seasons, but if I had to choose, I’m on the summer team. Daylight lasts longer, the sun shines and you simply get more in the mood to do something.

What do you like about working at ondeso?
The variety, the free space, the appreciation and the team spirit. We are currently a two-person marketing team and therefore always have many different topics to work on. That can be quite challenging at times, but it’s also fun. And if I have questions about our software or specific IT topics, I always find someone who helps me and answers my questions.

What do you like best about Regensburg?
There is a wide range of leisure activities, restaurants and bars. In summer, there is something going on almost every weekend and the many students also ensure a lively atmosphere. Nevertheless, Regensburg is not too big, so you can still get from A to B quickly – the best way to do this is by bike.

Now it’s getting serious:

What exactly is your job at ondeso and what does a typical working day look like for you?

I am responsible for marketing and work on increasing the popularity of ondeso and generating leads for our sales team via various channels. On a typical working day, I cycle to the office or start my laptop in my home office after a short yoga session. Then I check my emails and work through the things that can be done quickly. After that, I open our internal exchange platform MS Teams and get down to business.

I’m a fan of to-do lists and usually know the day before what my priorities will be for the next day. This could be creating or revising website content and technical articles, preparing for a trade fair or creating or revising content for our social media channels. Of course, I also monitor and analyse our activities and the market and incorporate these findings into my daily work. Most of the time, there are also meetings with external service providers or internal meetings. We talk about current projects, optimise our processes or define our goals, which we set using the OKR method.

As head of department, I am also willing to listen to my employees or discuss new concepts and ideas with the management and our leadership team. That’s why I’ve never been bored.

How would your colleagues describe you?

As a marketer, I naturally don’t rely on my gut feeling for this question, but have objective data to hand. 🙂 At an ondeso team event, we once had the task of writing down one word about each colleague. Afterwards, we received the piece of paper about ourselves and I kept it. The 3 most common words were: Creative, competent and helpful. The event took place a few years ago, but if my colleagues would still describe me like that today, I would be happy.

What did you want to become as a child and what brought you to ondeso?

I never had one career aspiration as a child. From veterinarian to inspector, I had it all. During my school years, I completed two internships in advertising agencies and then decided to train as a graphic designer. As graphics and marketing usually go hand in hand, I had points of contact with marketing right from the start. At some point, I realized that I wanted to further develop not only my creative skills but also my strategic abilities. As a result, I decided to do a part-time degree in marketing. The newly acquired knowledge of strategic planning, market research and customer behavior further ignited my passion for marketing and strengthened my desire to pursue a career in this field.

When I saw that ondeso was looking for a Marketing Specialist, I applied. I already had experience in the B2B sector, but an IT company with an intangible product was new to me. I felt I was in good hands at ondeso right from the start and have learnt an incredible amount over the last 5 years. However, you never stop learning. I’m excited to see where ondeso’s journey will take us and I’m looking forward to being a part of it.

Thank you for your time, Lena!
